History

The Faculty of Technology was originally established as the Mersin University Tarsus Faculty of Technology by the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2009/15546, published in the Official Gazette dated November 13, 2009 (No. 27405). Later, it was affiliated with Tarsus University, which was established in the Tarsus district of Mersin Province, under Law No. 7141 on Amendments to the Higher Education Law and Certain Laws and Decree Laws, published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2018 (No. 30425).

Our faculty carries out various activities to contribute to all educational, research, and practical efforts of our university in the Tarsus region, while also aiming to integrate with the city and represent our university in the best possible way. The Faculty of Technology adheres strictly to its vision and mission, implementing these principles in every aspect of its duties and academic work, and conducting all its efforts and activities in line with these goals.

The mission of our faculty is not only to train engineers with strong theoretical knowledge but also to educate engineers with a high level of practical skills. As is well known, graduates of traditional engineering faculties generally work in research and development related to manufacturing and production. In contrast, graduates of faculties of technology are responsible for the implementation of manufacturing and technical processes and work as field engineers in areas such as product development, testing, technical operations, service, and quality control.

Technology faculties abroad have developed dynamic curricula in collaboration with industrial organizations to align with the evolving needs of industry and advancements in technology. Similarly, the primary goal of technology faculties in our country is to train engineers who possess both theoretical knowledge and strong practical skills that meet the demands of industry.
